Lazy Days

A sweet pillow we picked up on our honeymoon.

Today you were suppose to be reading wondful new post filled with before and after pictures of one of our rooms upstairs that's been in progress for ages. Alas, the room is not quite where I would like it to be because I was a bit of a slacker this weekend!

Wedding Ring

While I'm cooped up in my office from nine to five, Kelly likes to send me pictures from his day. Whether he's climbed to the top of the grain leg with views for miles and miles, or he captures a baby sandhill crane while he's in the tractor, he is always sending me little reminders of the outside world.

Today I got the best reminder.

 

 

 

Now, let's just hope he didn't lose it in that huge pile of soybeans!

84% of the year I'm not big on watching the news, but this all changes when the Holiday season rolls around. There is usually an abundance of positive stories, shopping adventures and all around joyous moods that are quite infectious.

Take today for example. I heard that Target is offering free shipping on everything. Everything. With no minimum order. As in I could order a $3.00 tube of toothpaste and have it delivered at home for free. That's pretty exciting for a girl who does all of her shopping online.

Also, Amazon is offering free 30-day trials of their Amazon Prime for which you recieve free two-day shipping on everything, along with some other perks. I love free shipping for the Holidays!

Last of the Honeymoon

Day four took us to two different destinations, both somewhat scary.  

 

The first outing of the day took us to Trail Ridge Road, which is a pass through the Rocky Mountains that our host at Stonebrook Resort recommended. Since it was a clear sunny day, with chances of showers for the next couple of days, she suggested making the drive that day as the pass had been closed for three days during the prior week due to four foot snow drifts across the road.

If I had to chose my favorite thing that we did on our honeymoon, I would say the it was the day we spent hiking to four different lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park. Before our trip, I had been researching a bunch of different areas to hike while we were out there, but, as luck turns out, our wedding photographer had actually been out to Colorado the week before and recommended starting with Bear Lake. So that's what we did.

The next couple days of our honeymoon took us from flying over the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, to visiting a local herd of Elk in Estes Park.

Hello my dears! How have you been? We are back from our honeymoon. Six days of pure loveliness that I can't wait to share with you all!

There was so much relief I felt after the wedding was over and our relaxing honeymoon was just the thing to make me feel myself again. I swore we weren't that couple to fight and argue when getting ready for a wedding. I'm a very easy-going, come-what-will type of gal. When it came to weddings, I was always that person to think, well, you love each other so what do the other details really matter? Honestly, the other details really don't matter on the day-of, but even though we tried to keep everything regarding the wedding in perspective, the month before the wedding was very rough on our relationship. 

Luckily, we discovered the purpose of honeymoons and why they were invented. I woke up Sunday morning after our wedding and felt like a brand new person. Maybe it was just the new last name? ;) Truly though, it felt like a giant weight had been lifted off of my shoulders and I could act like a normal, sane person again. Add loving wife to that list. During the days that followed, we bounced right back to the happy couple that we were before.

This is wedding week. This is actually three days from wedding. Since I have unwittingly not posted in a week (where has the time been going?), I decided to take a definite break from posting for the remainder of the week and while we are on our honeymoon.
