My Favorite App for a First Time Mom

Baby Nursing
When we first brought Adalynn home, I was pretty diligent about writing down what time we changed her diaper and whether it was just wet or dirty. I also wrote down what times during the day and night she ate.

I wanted to have it all written down because those first days (and nights!) all blended together.  I was glad to have it because when we took her to the doctor for her checkup after two days of being home, the doctor asked us how often she needed her diaper changed and how often she was eating. It was nice to be able to have that reference and the reassurance from the doctor that everything was on track.

Then I had a face-smack moment. We are in the day and age where you hardly need a pencil and paper for anything. There had to be an app for what I was doing.

Sure enough, I found Baby Nursing.

It had everything I needed. The app allows you to track what time you start feeding and for how long. I can't tell you how many times that I forgot to grab my phone and yelled "Babe, what time is it?!"...then "Babe, what time is it now?

The app allowed us to keep track of when we changed her diapers and whether they were just wet or completely soiled. It gave me peace of mind knowing that she was staying hydrated and getting enough of the good stuff.

My favorite part about it was tracking her weight gain. Seeing how our little girl was growing was so neat! It amazed me how my body had grown this little bean and was continuing to help her grow. (Yes, patting myself on the back)

Not only does it allow you to keep track of her weight, you can put pictures from the day with her weight.

Yea, remember this gem? :)

Other things the app allows you to keep track of are:

  • Pumping
  • Bottle Feeding
  • Sleeping
  • Doctor Visits
  • Medication
  • Vaccinations
  • Bath Time
  • Solid Foods
If you're a new mom and looking for a very simple way to keep track of all the stats on your little one, I highly recommend this app!

*PS.
As a bonus, you can export the date - perfect to stick in the baby book!

Happy Monday!

That's not usually a thing, I know, but it's been so beautiful out the past few days that it is happy Monday. So love it.

As you could see from my Instagram, we went on lots of walks this weekend. Even though it was super windy, it was so nice to get outside and walk with no sign of any snow. She was all tucked in this little number that we scored for $9 (!)

It made me so ready for this spring to be here. For walks, tractor rides and working in the yard. Planting our garden, the chickens and dogs running around, flowers blooming. Bonfires, burgers on the grill, picnics. Man I could really get going with my list!

I'm excited for my sister to come over this afternoon, we're heading up to the barn with Adalynn. That means daddy gets a night off from babysitting...I don't think he's been home alone since she was born, I can only imagine what projects he'll get in to.

I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

Baby's First Shots

Wednesday, Adalynn had her first shots. Yea, she was not enthused.

Once we were in the doctor's office, we had to strip her down to get her weight, height and head circumference - all of which she wasn't too fond of because we were just pulling and stretching her all over the place. Then the shots. Ohhh the shots.

I'll start by saying that I absolutely love our doctor and nurses. They are so sweet and kind, you can tell they love what they do. For the shots, they brought in two nurses and did all of the shots at the same time. It took about ten seconds and then I could immediately pick her up to console her. Those ten seconds were about the saddest thing I've ever seen, her face turned bright red and she just started bawling.

It's so sad to see her scared and in pain and not be able to take those feelings away! But I guess that's what we signed up for as parents. Sometimes she will be scared and sometimes she will be in pain, but all we can do is be by her side to console and comfort her.

She proceeded to sleep away the entire day. I had to wake her to feed her, but other than that she was a happy baby. The next day seemed pretty normal also, but it was a little harder to feed her - she didn't seem as hungry as normal. Then last night...ohhh last night. It was like she was a newborn all over again. Up every two hours crying and eating. Not fun.

I was planning on heading to the barn for a meeting today about our upcoming fundraiser, but decided to stay home and see if we can't get this little one to start feeling herself again.

It's suppose to be in the mid-50s, so hopefully a nice long walk with the dogs in the fresh air with some sun on her face will do her good!

A Few Things...

The prettiest color roses I ever did see <3

Adalynn's sweet first Valentines, from some of her family.

When daddy comes home for lunch :)

Haven't laughed so hard in a long time! Also, proved that girls rock...even when the guys cheat ;)

Juicing on the daily.

Eight Weeks

EIGHT WEEKS?!

How.

How. Did. That. Happen.

And now I know why all of those annoying parents always give their child's age in weeks. You are probably saying, well eight weeks is two months, right?

Wrong!  She isn't two months for another 6 days. And I know that when you ask how old she is, you want her exact age (insert eye roll).

Also, I remember being in the hospital right after she was born and thinking that February sounded light years away. I was wrong.

So here is what she's been up to lately...

Bathtime

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm not a huge football fan.

Guys standing in circles chatting it up, the butt smacks. How does a game with four 15-minute quarters end up being a four hour production? Plus the fact that they play for a ring. All this jazz for a piece of jewelry. And yet they call it a man's game. I'll never understand.

Which brings me to something a little more fun. We had bath time in the big tub during the Superbowl!

First, I think she was a little pissed that we had the camera out...

Then the water hit her and she was like ooooooh!

And then we didn't loose eye contact the entire time, it was adorable :)

I just held under her head and she floated in the warm water. She seemed to really like it! We got lots of smiles and she even kicked a few times.

We ended up with a clean, warm, naked baby in a towel.

I vote for this over the Super Bowl any day :)
